Vivo Apex's Pop-up Selfie Camera Design is Already Patented by Essential
We saw a lot of slap-up smartphones and laptops at MWC 2018. I mean, the S9 and S9 Plus, the Nokia smartphones, the new Sony flagship, the ZenFone 5 etc. are all very impressive, but information technology was Vivo which really impressed everyone with its Noon concept smartphone. If you have been living under the woods, the Vivo Noon is a concept smartphone that has a truly bezel-less design, with almost one-half of its display featuring the under-brandish fingerprint scanner tech.
Since it'south all bezel-less, Vivo has incorporated a pop-out selfie camera that is hidden and only comes out when you need to take a selfie. The camera takes 0.viii seconds to set up itself, and automatically goes back in after you have taken a selfie. Now, it seems great and impressive that Vivo came upwardly with this great futuristic idea only a new tweet from Andy Rubin, Essential's CEO and known as the father of Android, suggests that Essential has already patented this popular-upward selfie camera design. The images do suggest a similar pop-upward camera design that Apex features. Plus, different Apex, the phone in the patent features a button on the elevation to activate the selfie camera, which seems absurd.
The patent was filed in 2016 under the proper noun "Apparatus and method to maximize the display area of a mobile device". So yes, Essential seems to accept been working on the blueprint for quite some time now. Well, you must exist thinking that Vivo must have licensed the design from Essential only since the Apex is but a concept, I don't think Vivo would require to go a license correct now. Having said that, if Vivo or whatsoever other maker plans on making this smartphone blueprint a reality, they will have to get the patent licensed from the folks at Essential.
